Genesee Affiliate Opens First Club Create Music Chapter
Darwin Hamilton and Kathy Cole teamed up in March to open the first Michigan Arts Access Club Create Music chapter. Mr. Hamilton is the father of talented pianist who is on the Autism Spectrum. When he heard about Club Create Genesee County he approached Club Director, Kathy Cole about the possibility of opening a Club that just focuses on music. He envisioned recruiting musicians with disabilities in the area to join a School of RockTM type program. At their first meeting the members voted to name the their group “Club Create Rocks!”
The club is open to any adult with a disability in the region with an interest in making music. You do not need to be an experienced musician. The club meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 4 – 5:30 pm at Swartz Creek Area Art Guild facilities in Flint. For more information contact Kathy Cole at kacole53@yahoo.com.
