Community of Practice Retreat at Higgins Lake

If you are a visual artist, musician, actor or dancer, we invite you to join us for a two-day experience designed to give artists who are interested in sharing their craft with students or adults with disabilities, join us for exciting 2 days of hands on experiences.

If you are a special education teacher and want to incorporate more creative experiences in your instruction, this opportunity is also for you!

We have assembled an outstanding group of arts educators with expertise in special education who will lead us through activities and discussions on how to develop more engaging instruction using the arts.  Throughout the retreat we will pay attention to your learning needs, your thoughts and questions, and your own experience and ideas in these realms. Come prepared to share your ideas, your challenges, and your questions. This will be an interactive, rejuvenating, and enjoyable experience, and an opportunity for you to network with other special education teachers and artists. We look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful MacMullan Conference Center at Higgins Lake State Park, where you will be well fed, participate in wonderfully creative learning experiences, sing and share stories around the campfire, and meet new friends in this beautiful natural environment.
