Teaching Artist Retreat at Higgins Lake

If you are a visual artist, musician, actor or dancer, we invite you to join us for a two-day experience designed to give artists who are interested in working with us the tools and skills to meet the needs of people with disabilities while working in all art forms.  We have assembled a outstanding group arts educators who have expertise in special education and the arts to lead activities to improve teaching practices. We will specifically focus on autism spectrum disorder, severe multiple and emotional impairment.

Throughout the retreat we will pay attention to your learning needs, your thoughts and questions, and your own experience and ideas in these realms. Come prepared to share your ideas, your challenges, and your questions. We expect this to be an interactive, useful, and enjoyable experience, and an opportunity for you to network with other teachers and artists facing similar challenges.

We look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful MacMullan Conference Center at Higgins Lake where you will be well fed, enjoy a beautiful environment and participate in wonderfully creative learning experiences.

For more information contact Michael Gielniak at michael@miartsaccess.org or call (586) 216-1996.

Hope to see you there!!
