United We Stand

We stand united against the racial violence that has resulted in the death of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and countless others, and condemn the systemic racism, oppression, ableism and discrimination against Black, Indigenous and People of Color.

Michigan Arts Access’ mission is to create an inclusive society where people with disabilities may participate in, learn through, excel in and enjoy the arts. It is, therefore, inherent in our vision of inclusion that we take appropriate action to ensure the rights of all who are marginalized in society and subjected to systemic discrimination.

We can do better and are committed to action. Going forward we will ensure that our programs and services include more representation of Black, Indigenous and People of Color. We will continue to expand the number of BIPOC within our teaching artist ranks, administration and board. We will provide anti-racism training for our teaching artists, our administration and our board. Additionally, we will help educate our stakeholders and consumers by providing information and other resources on anti-racism. We invite everyone to join in our mission and to hold us accountable as we begin to model the change we seek.
