Club Create Chapter Opens in Alma

MiAA Opens New Club on October 19th

Michigan Arts Access Gratiot Isabella Affiliate will open a new Club Create chapter in Alma on October 19, 2022. The club will be in partnership with the Alma Art Center and Gratiot Integrated Health Network. Sessions will be held at the drop-in center at 340 Pine Avenue in Alma on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10:00 – 11:30 am. “We want to thank the Theresa Allesandra Russo Foundation for their tremendous support. The foundation’s funding will allow us to open the club in Alma, as well as a club at The Hawk in Farmington, MI this year,” states MiAA Executive Director, Michael Gielniak.

Club Create is a Michigan Arts Access program for adults with disabilities. Club Create chapters provide members with hands-on experiences in a variety of art forms (creative movement, music, theatre arts, and the visual arts). Unfortunately, there are almost no social, intellectual or creative opportunities for adults with disabilities once they reach age 26 and are no longer eligible for our state’s public school programs. Club Create has been tremendously successful in filling this need by providing a safe, inclusive social environment where members can express themselves, experience success, and feel valued and respected.
